| The Research Laboratory on Monetary Economics was created to promote research in the monetary field, to be pursued in connection with other similar Centres that are active in Switzerland and abroad.
The main objectives of the Laboratory are the following:
- To co-operate with the Centre for Banking Studies and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Lugano in the organisation of seminars and colloquia.
- To develop a publications programme and to produce working papers.
- To spearhead the series entitled "Research Laboratory on Monetary Economics" as part of the Centro Studi Bancari -Meta Edizioni publications.
- To foster contacts with other related research institutions.
- To encourage and facilitate collaboration with individual scholars.
- To initiate and develop research projects for submission to the Swiss National Science Foundation.
The Laboratory's Academic Council, composed of at least two full Professors of Monetary economics, is responsible for all matters of academic policy and watches over the research carried on by its members to guarantee its quality.
Anyone wishing to join must ensure that his/her research, besides fulfilling the basic compatibility criteria, matches high quality standards.
Members are required to submit working papers at regular, yearly intervals.
The chief co-ordinator of the Laboratory's activities is Alvaro Cencini, Professor of Monetary economics at the Centre for Banking Studies and at the University of Lugano.
