Memorandum and Articles of association

 

Art. 1 Constitution

The Research Laboratory on Monetary Economics was created under the aegis of the Centre for Banking Studies (henceforward CSB), in Lugano-Vezia (Switzerland), on September 1998 and came into operation on 1999.
Art. 2 Objectives
2.1 The Laboratory aims to:
2.1.1 promote and conduct research in the monetary fields,
2.1.2 co-ordinate activities and projects carried out in other institutes, both in Switzerland and abroad.
2.2 To this end, the Laboratory:
2.2.1 joins forces with the CSB and the Faculty of Economics of the Universitā della Svizzera italiana (henceforth University of Lugano) in organising conferences and seminars,
2.2.2 actively promotes publications and produces working papers,
2.2.3 seeks out collaborative contacts with other research institutions,
2.2.4 encourages and facilitates collaboration with individual scholars,
2.2.5 initiates and develops research projects for submission to the Swiss National Science Foundation.
1. Organisation

Art. 3 Structure

The Laboratory consists of
  - An Academic Council
  - The totality of its members
Art. 4 Council Membership
The Academic Council comprises at least two full Professors of Monetary economics.
Art. 5 The Council's terms of reference
The Academic Council is responsible for all matters of policy and generally supervises the research undertaken at and by the Laboratory. The Council may also be called upon to appoint a Co-ordinator.
Art. 6 Members
Anyone who carries out research in the field of monetary economics or whose scientific activities are closely connected to this field is entitled to apply for membership of the Laboratory.
Art. 7 Conditions of membership
To be accepted as a full member of the Research Laboratory on Monetary Economics, a potential member must ensure that his/her work, besides fulfilling the basic compatibility criteria, matches high quality standards.
2. Funding
Initially, no specific sources of funding have been incorporated into the financial plans of the Laboratory. On the other hand, it is expected that the Laboratory collaborates with the University of Lugano, with the CSB or still other institutions in the organisation of seminars and conferences. As far as research projects are concerned, application for financial support will be made to the Swiss National Science Foundation.
3. Publications
Subject to agreement by the author(s), the most significant works will be published in the series entitled Research Laboratory on Monetary Economics, as part of the Centro di Studi Bancari - Meta Edizioni publications, or as working papers of the Laboratory.
